The Wellcome CPD Challenge is a pilot study of 40 schools tasked with meeting a set of mandated criteria related to the amount, nature and quality of professional development (CPD) their teachers participate in. This session will discuss what pilot schools in the study were doing to meet these criteria before the pandemic, how this was affected by the first lockdown, and how schools re-prioritised CPD as the immediate pressures of lockdown eased. We’ll hear from Nan Davies, Education and Learning Lead at Wellcome, Joelle Halliday, a member of the pilot management team at Sheffield Institute of Education, and Sarah Leonardi from CFE Research, who leads the evaluation.
