In this session, Dr Julian Grenier will be exploring what good science looks like in the early years.

How can play and independent exploration help children to develop their early scientific ideas and skills? What is the role of the adult? How can science consultants work with early years practitioners and help to lay strong foundations for children’s early scientific learning?

Julian is the lead author of the new non-statutory early years guidance from the DFE, Development Matters, which was developed in consultation with a range of professionals across the Early Years sector. It offers a top-level view of how children develop and learn, and guides but does not replace, professional judgement.
