In a world further fractured by ongoing environmental and social crises, the COVID-19 global pandemic amongst others and the precariousness of human life on earth, there is a pressing need to develop alternative ways of knowing and being, seeking to bring forth collective and sustainable futures. How does this question reflect the practices and concerns of teaching science in Scottish schools? This talk will address the question of knowledge in CfE, and how we can reconcile a static view of curriculum focused on abstract knowledge and disciplinary thinking, with an enactivist view, which promotes awareness of context, relationships and multiple creativities.
